Day 1, 9th June 2010, 11:05 - Chair: Emerging Technologies & Barriers to Adaption'
Having completed his PhD in Adaptive Optics from the University of Durham in 1991 he spent several years conducting research in the field of molecular electronics. He joined Thorn Lighting in 2000, and for the past four years has been steering the research programme based on light emitting polymers. This programme's success has resulted in it being supported through to demonstrate scaled-up manufacturability and luminaire concept design. He sits on various influential UK organic electronic committees including the Industrial advisory team for the Plastic Electronic Technology Centre in North East England, the Plastic Electronics Steering Group, LIF's LED APP group and the Ultra Efficient Lighting Group. He has most recently contributed to the European white paper on 'Towards Green Electronics in Europe' on organic led lighting.
