Lee Bensley, Philips Lighting

Lee Bensley, Business Development Director, Philips Lighting UK

Lee graduated in Business Studies from Coventry Polytechnic, and has held a number of management roles with Philips Lighting since joining in 1989.

As ‘segment manager’ Lee facilitated development of effective lighting maintenance strategies in the UK market, he then led a team responsible for direct end user communication to enhance holistic decision making. Previously Lee has managed the OEM business in the UK with strategic responsibility for the introduction of new emerging technologies to luminaire manufacturers. In his current role Bensley works with specifiers and market influencers to accelerate the use of innovative solutions including LED lighting.



Paul Drosihn, Lighting Business Manager, Arrow Electronics

Paul has been responsible for running the company's solid state lighting business since its inception in 2006. Paul's 22 years experience in the electronics industry, nine of which have been with Arrow - has included a variety of technical and management roles involving displays, lighting and environmental technologies. With qualifications in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering and Management , Paul is a member of several professional bodies including the IEEE, the Institute of Leadership and Management, and the Association of MBAs.

Dr Gareth Jones is currently a consultant for the Photonics and Plastic Electronics KTN representing Lighting and Energy Efficiency.  He is also Chief Technology Officer at Enfis Group plc.  Enfis is a leader in the design and manufacture of intelligent high power LED arrays and smart light engines. The products combine the numerous advantages of LEDs as a light source with our patent-pending SMART array feedback technology for use in a growing number of energy efficient lighting applications.

Gareth is a member of the UK Photonics Leadership Group (PLG) a body reporting to the UK government advising on the photonics industry and a steering group member of the Photonics and Plastic Electronics Knowledge Transfer Network.  He is a director of the Welsh Ultra-Efficient Lighting Centre.

Gareth has 20 years experience in the technology of semiconductor based optoelectronic components such as laser diodes and high brightness LEDs and has published a number of papers in peer reviewed journals and presented at numerous international conferences.   He is author of over 20 patents.


Jon Potter, Future Lighting Solutions Jon Potter, Business Development Manager, Future Lighting Solutions

After spending 5 years with Coca Cola where he received all his commercial training, Jon found his true vocation by joining Future Electronics some 10 years ago. The latter 5 years have been spent with Future Lighting Solutions, a leader in LED lighting components and solutions support enabling lighting designers and OEMs to capitalize on solid state lighting technology. In his current role as Business Development Manager Jon spends a lot of his time with lighting OEMs and market influencers to accelerate the adoption and use of solid state lighting technology in the lighting arena.


Dan Scott, Anglia Lighting Dan Scott, Lighting Business Manager, Anglia Lighting

Dan has a strong technical and commercial background within the electronics industry and was appointed to the position of Lighting Business Manager at Anglia in May 2007 where his role is dedicated to developing the solid state lighting market.

The majority of his time is spent working with new customers, many of whom have a traditional lighting background and require the support of a technical design partner to help them migrate their products towards LED technology.

Having completed his PhD in Adaptive Optics from the University of Durham in 1991 he spent several years conducting research in the field of molecular electronics. He joined Thorn Lighting in 2000, and for the past four years has been steering the research programme based on light emitting polymers. This programme's success has resulted in it being supported through to demonstrate scaled-up manufacturability and luminaire concept design.

He sits on various influential UK organic electronic committees including the Industrial advisory team for the Plastic Electronic Technology Centre in North East England, the Plastic Electronics Steering Group, LIF's LED APP group and the Ultra Efficient Lighting Group.  He has most recently contributed to the European white paper on 'Towards Green Electronics in Europe' on organic led lighting.
