Rico studied to become a precision optician at Carl Zeiss in Jena, Germany, and studied Lighting Technology and Technical Optics at the Technical University in Ilmenau, Germany.In 1996 Rico started to work for Hella Aerospace in Lippstadt as a lighting engineer. After the years he became the lighting expert within the company as well as the specialist for night vision lighting for aircraft applications and in 2001 became the head of the basic R&D department for Goodrich Lighting System.
In 2006 Rico relocated to Largo, Fl. to work for Amglo Kemlite. As the CTO for Amglo he developed Halogen light sources, HID lamp and Xenon flash tubes.
Since January 2009 Rico works for the Lighting Competence Center for Everlight as the Technical Director.
