
Mark van den Berg, Philips Lumileds
Mark van den Berg joined Philips Lumileds in August 1999. Prior to joining Philips Lumileds he was in Hewlett-Packard in the opto-semiconductor business as business development engineer. Within Philips Lumileds Mark has held various sales and marketing roles such as marketing manager Signaling, product manager low power LEDs, marketing manager Europe and sales manager for Scandinavia, UK, Benelux , Germany and Austria. From 2004 until 2010 Mark was running the sales for Philips Lumileds in EMEA. Since 2011 Mark is in charge of the marketing of Philips Lumileds products within EMEA with a focus on driving LUXEON adoption into selected illumination segments.

Geert van der Meer, Osram
Geert van der Meer is globally responsible for product portfolio management SCL (LED light enginbes, drivers and Light management systems. Before this he works at Philips Lighting with the product marketing teams in Chicago, Shanghai and Eindhoven, building the portfolio and a 100+ Mio Euro turnover from scratch. In Jan 2011, the activities have been turned into a Philips business unit, called LED systems.

Gareth Jones, LUX-TSI
Dr Gareth Jones is Chief Executive of LUX-TSI, an innovative solid-state lighting performance testing company. LUX-TSI provides support for lighting companies from R&D through to fully certified performance testing and is certified to ISO17025 through UKAS. Testing is supported for LEDs, LED modules, light engines, lamps and luminaires to international standards using state-of-the-art equipment. Additionally, the company provides testing according to ErP directives on Energy Efficiency and also provides Environmental and Safety testing for high-tech consumer electronic products. LUX-TSI is partnered with UL, the world’s largest safety testing company. He has over 20 years’ experience in the technology of semiconductor based optoelectronic components such as laser diodes and high power LEDs and lighting and has published a number of papers in peer reviewed journals and presented at numerous international conferences. He is author on a number of patents.

Geoff Williams, Thorn Lighting
Internationally recognised industrial expert in OLED and PLED technology, with a proven track record of delivering both product development programmes and public/private fundraising. Led the team which produced the best white light polymers and devices and secured over £15M in grant funding for development of PLED lighting. An active supporter of integrated solid state lighting solutions constantly evaluating opportunities for both led and oled lighting schemes. A keen advocator of integrated solid state lighting solutions with other emerging technologies, Such as printed electronics, visible light communications, renewable power generation and low voltage dc grids.

Edward Lees, Toshiba
Edward joined Toshiba Lighting as the Product Manager for NLSD UK & Nordics in June 2011. He has over seven years’ experience in the lighting industry, with diverse roles in marketing and strategic business management. Edward started his career at SLI Lighting in 2002 based in Shipley, West Yorkshire, before moving to Sylvania, following its acquisition by Havells India. Edward then spent just over six years with Havells Sylvania as its UK Marketing Manager and European Strategic Business Unit Manager.

Tom van den Bussche, Bridgelux
Tom joined Bridgelux in January 2010 as Director Marketing EMEA and most recently has taken up the additional role of Global Director of Segment Marketing. Over the last 18 years he has held key international positions with leading multinationals based throughout Europe (France, Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Belgium and the United Kingdom). In early 2000, Tom became active in the LED lighting for Philips Lighting where he first as Six Sigma Black Belt and later as head of the SSL project department developed several of the current SSL concepts, with regards to product as well as supply chain. Tom holds a master degree in engineering and a degree in economics from the University of Leuven, Belgium.

Todd Straka, UL
Todd currently serves as Business Development Director, Global Lighting for Underwriters Laboratories Inc. In his current role, Todd is responsible for expanding and developing UL’s global lighting services portfolio to support the rapidly changing lighting industry. Todd has been involved in the testing and certification of lighting products for over 15 years and has worked closely with many industry stakeholders including lighting manufacturers, retailers, showrooms, distributors, specifiers, architects, and organizations such as U.S. DOE, U.S. EPA, U.S. DOT, and NEMA. He has worked closely to support programs such as ENERGY STAR®, Lighting Facts, and Design Lights Consortium.

Paul Flemming, Meanwell
After working in Asia as a project manager leading the development of OEM power supply for customers in the rack mount server market, Paul Fleming joined Mean Well Europe in 2008 where he has been part of Mean Well’s successful push to become the number one supplier of off-the-shelf LED power supply in Europe.
